ADAPT - Tap
Tap is a unique dance form in which the rhythm or rhythmical variation is audibly tapped out. Incorporating specific footwork, body percussion, rhythm and style as an expression of movement and music. Tap dancing can strengthen the muscles, help students develop their coordination and balance, and even provide mental and social benefits.
Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm (jazz) tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses on dance; it is widely performed in musical theater. Rhythm tap focuses on musicality, and practitioners consider themselves to be a part of the jazz tradition. Yearly exams are offered in order for dancers to advance.
