Hip Hop
Hip Hop dance is a style of dance with deep historical and social roots in African culture. It includes a wide range of styles such as; breaking, popping, locking, whacking, top rock, funk and more. It’s an important part of hip hop culture and was started in the 1970’s in the Bronx, New York.
What distinguishes hip-hop from other forms of dance is that it is often "freestyle" (improvisational) in nature and hip-hop dance crews often engage in freestyle dance competitions—colloquially referred to as "battles".
The dance culture of hip hop has no set rules and no set movements that need to be followed in order for it to qualify as hip hop; this makes the dance a fun, natural stress reliever. Ironically, it can help your child improve their concentration skills even further, a trait that could benefit their education. Hip hop dance lessons are not only fun and exciting to learn but will also help keep your child physically active.
